Where the homes are

Reno is compact. Most of our homes sit within a short drive of Midtown and downtown, where the restaurants along South Virginia Street, the Riverwalk on the Truckee River and Wingfield Park are all within a walk of one another. The University of Nevada campus is just north of downtown, Renown Regional Medical Center is a few minutes east of Midtown, and the airport is inside the city limits, so an early flight does not mean an early alarm.

Sparks, on the east side of the valley, has its own centre at Victorian Square and the Sparks Marina, whose swimming beaches and paved loop are the neighborhood’s summer living room. From either city the grocery store, the hardware store and a good coffee are never far, which matters more on a week-long stay than any view.

What Reno is like to visit

The city sits at roughly 4,500 feet in the high desert, and that explains the weather: dry, bright summers with hot afternoons and cool evenings, and winters where snow on the valley floor arrives and leaves within days while the Sierra, a half hour to the west, holds it for months.

The calendar is busier than people expect. The Reno Rodeo takes over June, Hot August Nights fills the streets with classic cars in August, and September brings the Great Reno Balloon Race, with dawn launches at Rancho San Rafael Park, followed by Street Vibrations. If your dates land on one of those weeks, book early. The whole city does.

Lake Tahoe from Reno

Incline Village and the north shore of Lake Tahoe are up the Mt. Rose Highway, generally under an hour from south Reno in good weather, with Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe on the way. Plenty of guests stay in Reno on purpose: the homes are larger and quieter for the money, the grocery run is easy, and the lake becomes a day trip rather than a commitment.

In winter the highway gets chain controls during storms, so if a Tahoe day is part of the plan, bring a vehicle that can handle snow. Our Incline Village homes are the other way to do it, and they have a page of their own.

Staying a month or longer

Most of our Reno and Sparks homes are also furnished for stays of a month or more, on a written lease with utilities included, for travelling clinicians, relocations and anyone between houses. Those stays are confirmed by phone or email rather than through the booking calendar, and the monthly rentals page lists each home with its rate.
